Journey is always pleasure to me. My joy knows no bound whenever I go on a journey. I had an opportunity to make a journey by bus last month.I received a phone from my uncle at Dhaka to attend the marriage ceremony of my cousin. I, with some of my friends got prepare to go to Dhaka by bus. From the 10th November, we went to the Pirojpur bus terminal at 7 a.m. The name of our bus was Sakura.

We bought our tickets and our bus was to start at 8 a.m. We got in the bus and took our seats. Luckily I had my seat by the window. It was a bright morning and our bus started on time. The bus began to run at a good speed and we reached Bekutia Ferry Ghat within 15 minutes. We got into the ferry, while the ferry was crossing the river, we enjoyed the beautiful scenery of both the sides of the river. It took us only ten minutes to cross the river. Then the bus was running towards Barisal. I looked out through the window. I enjoyed the beautiful green corn fields and trees on both sides of the road. We reached Barisal at 10:30 a.m We got down from the bus and move here and there for a few minutes. We also took some snacks and then got into the bus. The bus started at 11 a.m. from Barisal.

We reached Mawa ferry ghat at 2 p.m. The most interesting part of journey was the crossing of the mighty river Padma. Our bus got on the ferry which is capable of carrying 30 buses at a time. It was an amazingly big ferry. I felt hungry and told my friends to have lunch at the ferry. It was the first time that I relished the most delicious Hilsha fish of the Padma. My friends also enjoyed it very much. After taking lunch we came back to our bus and got into it. The ferry reached the other side of the river after an hour and our bus started for Dhaka  at a great speed.

We reached Dhaka at 4 p.m. and got down from the bus. We hired a taxi and reached my uncle’s house within a few minutes. We were warmly recived by my uncle and cousins.

---Train---

A journey is always fascinating. It charms our mind and makes us happy. A journey is a break in our monotonous everyday life. After a journey we feel relaxed and fresh. Peace fills our heart after we have made a really wonderful journey.

I made a journey by train with my friends last year. I received a letter from my uncle at Chittagong to attend the marriage ceremony of his daughter. I took some of my friends with me. Early in the morning I reached Kamalpur railway station where I found my other friends. The train came. We got into the train and found our seats beside the window. The guard blew his whistle and waved his green flag, the engine slowly began to move and we glided out the station.

Everything that we were passing was pretty and so we amused ourselves by looking through the windows. As the train winded away eastwards., we could see a number of hills and mountains. We passed by the green fields., beautiful watery areas and wonderful hillocks. Everything seemed very delightful and pleasant to us. From the train, we could see the clear, green waters and women and small boys and girls swimming happily and taking bath in the ponds and rivers.

At last at 4 p.m. we reached Chittagong. The journey seemed to me like a dream. However, when we reached Chittagong, we found my uncle waiting for us. He welcomed us and took us to his residence. Thus our wonderful journey ended very beautifully.

During the last rainy season we wanted to have one day’s outing by boat. Some of the young people and children of our mohalla  contributed the party. All of us made substantial contributions to make a fund for the pleasure trip. We decided to go up to Bhairab bazaar from our village to see the Muktijoddha bridge over the Meghna. It was known as king  George  the sixth bridge before our war of libration during which it was damaged to prevent the movement of the occupation army.

We hired a large country boat with two boatmen. We started from our village ghat at 6.00 in the morning and the boatmen pushed of through a canal. We were soon sailing down the large ‘beels’ with the wind on our sails. All the people sat on the open parts of the deck to enjoy the beautiful sights and scenes all round. The boatmen started singing ‘Bhawaiya song’.

At about eleven we entered the Meghna. We reached the foot of the bridge and stopped our journey there. The bridge looked grand. We admired the engineering skill of our engineers who reconstructed the bridge after the libration war in order to restore our railway communication. We saw steamers and launches plying up and down. We had our lunch at 1:30 p.m.

After lunch we took a rest for an hour and started our return journey at about 2:30.In the afternoon the wind began to blow in our favour and our boat sailed smoothly. In the evening when the sun was sinking down the horizon, the water rippling through the aquatic plants unfolded a new aspect of our rural beauty. The return journey was more delightful and we reached home at around 7:30 in the evening.

---Historical Place---

Historical place means a place which bears a testimony to history. Bangladesh is a land of historical importance. Everywhere there are places of historical interest. Visiting a historical place is truly interesting and exciting. Visits to such places have a great educative value too. Besides, it helps us to remove the dullness of mind which occurs from the monotonous classes.  So, after the test examination is over, we visited Mahasthangarh, a place of historical interest.

On 25 December 2013, we started for our visit. We were four in number. On the appointed day,  we all gathered at a pre-decided place named Gabtoli from where we went to Bogra by bus and stayed at night. The following day after breakfast, we et out for rickshaw. When we reached Mahasthangarh, a glorious chapter of old history opened up before our eyes. We all were enchanted seeing such a historical place with our own eyes..

Mahasthangarh was the site of Pundrangar. Pundrangar was the capital of thr Mouryas, Guptas, Senas and other Hindu kings. The old city was about 2000 metres long and 1500 metres wide ans was surrounded by a wall. Once it was a very flourishing city.

Mahasthangarh stands on the western bank of the river Korotoa. There are some elevated places near Mahasthangarh. Theses place are known as ‘Vitas’ , ‘Kundus’, ‘Ghous’ and ‘Dhaps’. One part of the dried river is known as the ghat of Kankabati. There is a museum at Mahasthangarh. Some images, dice, ornaments and pots excavated from Mahasthangarh have been kept in the museum. We have seen all the relics of the past and learnt a lot of things about our past civilization.

We spent the day at Mahasthangarh and started back for Bogra in the evening. The following day after breakfast we set out for Dhaka.A visit to a place of historical interest is always interesting to me. It was a great pleasure for me to be at Mahasthangarh. It was indeed a rewarding visit. It is still fresh in my memory.
