We live in an age of science. Present civilization is, in fact , the gift of science. We have been inventing new things to acquire power to make life more enjoyable.Bangladesh, as a developing country, is still lagging behind in the field of science. The scope of science education is so limited. It is in one sense frustrating. In this global age, we have to complete with other countries irrespective of their financial and academic status. In doing so, we can easily realize how backward we are in comparison with the developed countries of the world. Life without science is beyond imagination in this competitive age.

Our young learners have enough talent and intelligence to receive science education and to compete with their counterparts of the overseas countries. But as they learn their lessons in a limited scope, they often get frustrated while competing with their counterparts in any forum. Again, these native learners, when they go to those developed countries to live there, show their skill so excellently that they top the list making their counterparts astonished. This is made possible only because they get sufficient scope to learn there. So, it is established that if they are provided with requisite learning facilities, they are sure to prove themselves worthy learners.
Science education is badly required in our country. But our present life is governed and controlled by the offshoot of science. There is no area where science is not available. Electricity, gas, radio, television, telephone, radar, rocket, computer, robot, cinema, medical treatment, etc are the most important inventions of science. Science has helped us increase our food productions to a large extent. Agriculture is the main industry of our country. We have to adopt scientific system of farming. Otherwise, the primitive traditional system of farming will not be able to meet up the growing demand of our population.

Bangladesh, being a member of the developing countries, cannot think herself isolated in the global age. As the Bangladeshis, we have to cope with the current requirement pf the globe. Any diviation will throw her to a corner wherefrom it is not possible for her to turn beck.To conquer every branch of science the system of education is required to be revised. Ample scope must be created so that our young scientists can have the opportunity to quench their thirst for knowledge. If they are provided with sufficient opportunities the country will be benefited to a great extent.

Our young scientists will feel proud if and when they fare much better than their counterparts in any competition. It is our earnest expectation that our government will come forward with this noble mission taking the overall development of the country in view.

---Uses and abuses of Scientific Inventions---

Modern science made a tremendous achievement during the last few decades. Actually, modern civilization is the gift of the modern science. Science has invented many wonders. Day and night, we make use of innumerable inventions of science. But the invention modern science has not only uses but also abuses.

The invention of electricity is of a great use to us. Now we can use electric lamps, and fans, refrigerators, televisions, washing machine, telegraph, telephone, computer etc. very easily. Besides, almost all mills and factories are run by electricity. Electric trains, printing presses, cookers, irons and sewing machines are also run by electricity.

The inventions of science have helped to conquer space and time. We can now go from one place to another in a very short time. We can now send messages to a great distance in a second. We can talk to anybody in any part of the world in any time over phone.
In the field of amusement, the invention of science has brought about a revolutionary change. Radio broadcasts songs, music, news, discussion, etc. Television telecasts pictures even in color. By Fax, any writing or picture can be sent to great distances very easily. The internet is yet another wonderful invention of modern science.

Spinning of yarn, weaving of cloth and sewing of cloths  can be done at a great speed by using the invention of science. Food-processing, house-building, constructing roads and bridges can be done very quickly. Millions of pages can be printed or reproduced in a short time. A calculator can solve any difficult mathematical problem instantly.

The invention of science is of great use in the field of medical science. Science has discovered the causes of most of the diseases and their remedies. A deadly disease like TB has been conquered. Cholera has also been brought under control. Small pox has been eradicated. The X-ray and other diagnostic instruments have been very helpful to man.

Science has increased food production greatly. If we can apply the scientific methods properly, there will be no hunger in the world. Tractors, power-pumps, fertilizers, high-yielding varieties of crops and irrigation techniques have revolutionized agriculture.

But the invention of science is not an unmixed blessing. Science has also invented guns,  bombs, atom-bombs, and missiles, battleship and war planes, chemical weapons and nuclear weapons. By abusing these, a powerful country is attacking a weak country to capture and gain its wealth.

There are many areas of our everyday life where we use the invention of science. Though the inventions of science have some abuses, science is a blessing to us.

Corruption is an evil practice. It may originate from unsolved problems. Unfinished works, vicious politics, weak administration and many other related or relevant things. Bribery the misuse of power, nepotism, the avarice for wealth and social condition are the roots of corruption. A corrupt person can do everything for his/her own self. Social or public interest is fruitless to him/her.

Corruption is an incurable social disease. It is very difficult to find out when and why someone is corrupt. Avarice is the main cause of corruption. Besides this, economic insolvency, ambiguity of laws, unemployment, political instability, lack of patriotism are the main causes of corruption.

Corruption is engulfing our total life at a high speed. It seems that it would be difficult for us to distinguish the fair from the unfair. In a developing and poor country like misuse state power for their ownself and party.

Corruption is the main obstacle to the socio-economic development of a country. A great amount of money for development work is misappropriated by the obstacle to the socio-economic development of a country. A great amount of money for development work is misappropriated by the government staff and political leaders. As a result, the main target of the development work is not reached.

The eradication of corruption is a crying need for the country’s greater interest. To make the country free from corruptions, the citizens of all classes should be responsible, accountable, dutiful and considerate. Nepotism, favouritism, red-tapism etc. should be dealt with seriously

The drug-addict also does something that ruins the peace of the family. He even steals ornaments, utensils, clothes and what not to procure money for buying drugs. So all other members of the family remain in tension for his misdeeds. The fate of the addict is serious. He dies a painful death losing character. He becomes a burden not only for the family but also for the society and also for the nation.

The remedy for drug addiction is not very easy. Drug addiction is not only a national but also a global problem. To save our young generation from drug-addiction, the government and educated people should come forward with necessary remedies. Strong measures should be taken to stop the production and trafficking of drugs.
